ORDER OF EVENTS


The PIAA order of events is:

Warm-up
Event 1 .........200 Medley Relay
Event 2 ..........200 Freestyle
Event 3 ..........200 Individual Medley
Event 4 ..........50 Freestyle
Event 5 ..........Diving – Six dives are required         in at  least four of the five groups:        

      Forward, Back, Twist, Reverse, Inward
Ten-minute warm-up
Event 6........... 100 Butterfly
Event 7........... 100 Freestyle
Event 8........... 500 Freestyle
Event 9........... 200 Free Relay
Event 10........ 100 Backstroke
Event 11........ 100 Breaststroke
Event 12........ 400 Freestyle Relay
 
The above order of events is used when diving is held during the swim meet. Otherwise Event 5 is replaced with an extended warm-up.

* A team cannot score 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in a relay event.  Only 12 points maximum can be scored in a relay event.  A team can score 1st thru 3rd in an individual event.

The team accumulating the most points in the combined swimming and diving events is declared the winner of the meet.


A competitor shall be permitted to enter two (2) individual events and two (2) relays or one (1) individual and three (3) relays.

Diving Points

TYPES OF MEETS


Dual Meets – Dual meets are held with another high school swim team. A Dual Meet can be a Girls’ Meet, Boys’ Meet, or a combined Girls’ and Boys’ Meet. When a combined meet is held, Girls and Boys alternate for each event.

Central League Championship– To qualify for CLC, the swimmer must meet time standards or the school may enter two individuals who do not meet standards provided there are no other swimmers in that event from the school.

PIAA District #1– To qualify, a swimmer must meet a time standard.

PIAA States – Top 4 places from the District meet attend along with any swimmer who swims in the top 16 times across the state which have not automatically qualified.
